Foye-Fletcher Therapy LLC Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 9th, 2025

Effective communication is an essential part of our work together. This document outlines my practice's policies regarding text messaging and your options for secure communication.

Use of iPlum for Text Messaging

I utilize iPlum, a business phone solution that offers VoIP calling, SMS texting, and HIPAA-compliant secure messaging. This tool allows for both standard SMS texting (non-secure) and a secure messaging feature (HIPAA-compliant) through the iPlum app.

Secure Messaging Option (Recommended)

As part of starting services, I will guide you in setting up a free iPlum account. This will allow us to communicate via secure, HIPAA-compliant messaging. You may also contact me through the secure messaging feature in your Simple Practice Client Portal.

Standard SMS Texting (Not HIPAA-Compliant)

If you choose to communicate with me using standard SMS text messages (outside the iPlum app), please be aware:

  • Standard SMS texting is *not* HIPAA-compliant.

  • SMS text messages may be intercepted, misdirected, or read by unintended parties.

  • I strongly encourage the use of secure messaging for all sensitive information.

Client Acknowledgement & Consent

I acknowledge and consent to the following:

1. I understand that secure messaging through iPlum or Simple Practice is available and is the recommended method of communication.

2. If I choose to send standard SMS text messages, I understand that:

  • This method is not HIPAA-compliant.

  • I accept the privacy risks involved.

  • I am responsible for any personal health information (PHI) I choose to send over standard text messaging.

  • I understand that text messaging is intended for administrative or scheduling purposes only — not for therapy, crisis support, or sharing sensitive information.
